StriVectin: Repair & Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Sunday, July 05, 2015

Long time readers know I tend to be highly skeptical when companies make various skincare claims. Most simply don't live up to their hype or I ended up being highly sensitive to their products that I have to discontinue using their products within a week. StriVectin's PR contacted me at the beginning of June asking me if I would like to try their products for reviewing purposes, I said yes because I have been curious about their products after receiving a small sample from one of my beauty boxes subscriptions.

For the last month I've been using StriVectin Repair & Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (1.7 oz, $89) and I have to say I rarely say I love a certain product but right now I'm in love with this. Why? In the last week I have had several complements from random strangers in Boston!

My middle daughter "Bee" graduated high school last month and we've been spending a lot of time up in the city (Boston) where I've been asked by several people if we were sisters. People were shocked when I said, "No, I'm her mom!" No one believes me that I'm 40! LOL I haven't had those types of complements in ages so needless to say the only change in my routine lastly has been incorporating this moisturizer from StriVectin. I'm not going to say I look like I do back when I was 20 with tight, firm skin but since using StriVectin Repair & Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 I have notice that the more fine lines around my temple and jowls are "gone" and my skin looks a bit more youthful.

Here's what StriVectin say about their product:
Repair & Protect Moisturizer is a lightweight, wrinkle fighting daily moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen that reduces visible signs of aging, neutralizes free radicals and helps prevent UV damage. The formula combines next generation antioxidant technology and patented NIA-114™ to enhance skin’s innate defenses and\
The only real issue I have with this product is it's packaging - specifically the lid. I dropped my jar several times and over the course of three weeks the clear lid developed a crack which eventually lead to the entire lid breaking apart like safety glass. I now have to be careful in opening the remaining top portion to keep it from drying out. At basically $90 it would be a very expensive disaster had I purchased this out of pocket. I noticed at a Boston Macy's (near Downtown Crossing if you're curious) that the StriVectin moisturizer jar lid was also shattered so basically be very careful and try not to drop it on a hard surface. I think if they switched from a jar to a squeeze tube like their  SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate that would help tremendously.

Other than that one issue I have to say I really like the Repair & Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I'm impressed by this, and it's pretty hard to impress me since I'm such a skeptic when it comes to skincare products. I'm looking at the Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles (1 oz, $65) to target the fine lines around my eyes. The Eye Concentrate won 2013 New Beauty, Beauty Choice Award Winner — Best Eye Cream and 2012 Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner — Best Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream. I know one thing, if I keep getting complements on my skin and getting mistaken for my daughters sister then I'm going to stick with this moisturizer.

Edit: Since writing this blog post I've decided to order from Birchbox the StriVectin-SD Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles. While I don't have noticeable wrinkles yet the vain part of me wants to continue to get those compliments comparing my skin to my 17-year-old daughter's youthful skin. The other product I really want to try is the StriVectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Serum Roller.
