My Thoughts: My Ipsy April 2013 bag
Tuesday, April 16, 2013

I'd pair the makeup in this month's bag with a hot pink lip gloss or lip balm for a pop of color on the lips. On the eyes you'll want to temper the pink shadow with nudes and even browns along with either no eyeliner or a chocolate brown eyeliner. For an evening look pair it with black eyeliner.
For those not familiar with Ipsy it's a monthly subscription service that for $10 per month you will receive a cosmetic bag filled with three to five products. The products maybe sample size or even full size products. There are no referrals or perks for being an Ipsy subscriber at this time.

So here's what I received this month. I'll use everything but the MicaBeauty though I might give the MicaBeauty shadow a shot. Maybe, maybe not.

MicaBeauty, Be A Bombshell, Sation & Sexy Hair Corp.
![]() Indoors, indirect light w/flash off. | MicaBeauty in Earth, 2 grams Retail: $14.95 A couple of years ago I talked about how MicaBella (now known as MicaBeauty) products caused me to break out into a rash all over my cheeks and down my neck. As a result I've reluctant to use the liner Ipsy sent out a couple of months ago and am reluctant to try the shadow but I may give it ago and see how it goes. The color I received is called #72 EARTH and it's a lovely shade of a brown-pink. It has an "Old Rose" feel to it. I wonder if I can dupe it. |
Be A Bombshell in Sweet Cheeks, 0.17 oz Retail: $16 The color on the Be A Bombshell site has this blush looking a more on the mauve (purple) side but what I received has more of an orange-gold tone to it. At first I thought it was similar to the Lisa Watier blush I recently shared my thoughts on but the Lisa Waiter is matte and more of a terracotta pink while the Be A Bombshell Sweet Cheeks not only is brighter but also has a shimmer to it. Similar yet completely different. | ![]() Indoors, indirect light w/flash on. |
![]() Indoors, indirect light w/flash on. | Sation in Of Corset I'll Call You, 0.5 oz Retail: $5 It's a lovely soft shade of pink. I have other pink polishes that are similar to this color and every single one tends to be on the sheer side. From my understanding this particular polish from Miss Professional Nail also is on the sheer side. If it is I would suggest try pairing it with a matte white underneath. |
Sexy Hair Soy Renewal, 0.85 fl oz Value: $4.44 (based on the 4.2 oz retails for $21.95) This is primarily a silicone based product that contains Moroccan Argan Oil and sunflower oil so if you have fine hair that tends to get weighed down by silicone based products you may want to use this product sparingly or skip it altogether. At first I was shocked by the size but then I removed the foil from the inside to smell and look at it. It's not a creamy oil more like a typical hair mask as I expected. The Sexy Hair Soy Renewal turned out to be a liquid oil product so I'm sure I'll only need to use a very small (quarter size or less) amount. It smells fine, I'm not crazy about the scent... it's familiar but I can't place it. It kind of reminds me of a baby lotion scent but I just can't place the exact scent. | ![]() Indoors, indirect light w/flash off. |
Overall I like the items sent to me but I DID have to put in a request for NO Two Cosmetics. I've already harped on why I didn't want Two Cosmetics and why I'll NEVER want Two Cosmetics. I may trade the MicaBeauty shadow or save it to put in a gift bag for one of my daughter's friends. I'm not sure yet.

I loved the bag! Just wondering why you'll never want anything from Two Cosmetics?
ReplyDeleteThey claim their products are safe for eyes but contain ingredients not FDA approved. Then when called on it, placed teeny tiny disclaimer. Got all in a snit. If you go to menu bar on right and click on two cosmetics near bottom, you will see more info. I got it in my bag. Might use as blush or just toss it out.
