Ipsy 2011-2012


Ipsy is similar to Birchbox in that it is a subscription service that specializes in cosmetic products. Like Birchbox, for $10 per month you get four to five products in a cute little cosmetic bag. Items may range from full-sized beauty products to deluxe-sized samples. Unlike Birchbox as of December 2011 there are no special perks for members such as points or referral bonuses.

It was co-founded by Michelle Phan and Marcelo Camberos, a VP at Funny or Die, Inc. in July 2011 and officially launched in November 2011 with their first bag shipped out to customers in December 2011.
