Lunar New Year began today so Happy New Year!

EM Michelle Phan is now international and they had a major price reduction on the Life Palettes. Want more details? Well keep on reading!

The cosmetic brushes, Eye Primer, Life Moments, Shade Play (blush/bronzer) and Shade Play (lips) palettes all remain the same price as of this post. The biggest price reduction are the Life Palettes ($16 reduction) and the Shade Play for eyes palettes ($10 reduction). The Life Palettes were $75 each but are now $59 which puts the palettes at a price level as that of L'Oreal's other line, Urban Decay, however while it's now on par with the prices of Urban Decay I still feel that many items are still over priced.

Note (*): The new Valentine's Day Life Moments - Seductress edition and Secret Admirer edition - are regular price however the Winter Life Moments - Ice Bunny and New Year's Countdown are currently $25 and are being discontinued as these were for the end of 2013. I'm actually kind of disappointed these are being discontinued as the colors in the palettes are very pretty.

Personally, I still think the lip balm are still overpriced at $14 and this is simply due to the fact that these are packaged in plastic containers. If the containers were more luxurious and made of glass like L'Oreal's old HiP lip balm (which the jars are now used in L'Oreal's Maybelline Tattoo eye shadows) it would be different. I'm just not crazy about the plastic container for the lip balms because it does look cheap while glass gives it a bit more of an elegant aspect. At most the lip balms in the current packaging should be no higher than $8.

Also still overpriced, in my opinion, are the lipsticks, Color Facets, mascara and primers. The lipsticks should come down to around $10 and no higher than $12 while the Color Facets should be about $12. The mascaras should be no higher than $15 (and I'm being generous with that price as it should be more around $13). The eye primer should be more around $10 to $12 while the face primer around $15. I'm not too disappointed by the Shade Play lips and eyes but if they dropped the price another $3 so each are $25 then it would be better.

Overall, I'm happy to see that they are listening to the complaints that the prices were just too high especially considering that Michelle's fan base demographics are tweens (10 - 12), teens and college students. Women  are willing to pay for luxury products but the packaging and the quality have to justify the price we're willing to pay. I don't mind dropping $50 or $60 on a product if I knew the quality was there and the packaging was cute.

In regards to the international shipping, EM Michelle Phan actually are not shipping internationally directly. They are instead using the export company MyUS.com to export through. I've used similar companies when I use to order from Japan and the company I used (long since shut down) was reputable. I've never heard of MyUS.com and have no experience with them however since L'Oreal Group via EM Michelle Phan and PFWeb Inc are working with this company I have to presume that they are a reputable company. Just keep in mind it's NOT free to use and you must pay to create a membership with MyUS.com and possibly pay a monthly fee depending on which service you select. At this time the membership fee is $10 which they will credit back to your account once you make your first purchase via their site.

From MyUS.com:
FREE Setup Fee for Standard Membership
* $10.00USD one-time setup fee credited back toward your first MyUS.com export
* PLUS an additional 10% off your first MyUS.com export

FREE Setup Fee for Premium Membership (up to 20% lower shipping rates than Standard Membership)
* $20.00USD one-time setup fee credited back toward your first MyUS.com export
* PLUS an additional 20% off your first MyUS.com export

Also note that MyUS uses DHL and FedEx for those additional 10% or 20%. On top of that be aware that the 2nd membership ($20 setup fee) is for a premium account which will cost an additional $7 per month. AND! If that's not all if you sign up for the $10 membership you'll be charged $1 per day that they have your package. So be aware that shipping it internationally may become very expensive going this route.

Before you sign up check their shipping rates to see how much it would cost to have the package shipped to you. I'm seeing prices between $20 to $50 depending on the weight and location.
