Starlooks: The October Starbox

Friday, October 25, 2013

About a year ago I subscribed for the first time to Starlooks and ended up quitting after three months not because the quality of the products were bad or because it was expensive but rather because I just had too many subscriptions at the time. I'm kind of regretting doing that though since by August 2012 I was down to only my Ipsy and my Birchbox subscriptions.

I signed back up in August with September being my first box and this is my second box. Want to see what's inside the October Starbox? Of course you do! So....

Three items were sent this month including a trio blush palette, a lipstick and a metallic eyeliner. I have to say that I DO like all three items even though I do think the lipstick and the blush are more on the sheer side.

My thoughts:

"3B1" 3 Shadow Blush Palette

The trio of blushes are very pretty however very sheer. When finger swatched it does have a decent amount of pigment however when applied with a blush brush the color is very sheer and soft. At this time I haven't used it to see if the color is buildable, which I'm hoping it is, but for now I reserve final judgement for later.

"Mirage" Gem Pencil

Soft, bold, pigmented and very metallic. Out of all three items this month from Starlooks THIS is my favorite. I didn't have to have heavy hand at all to apply this liner in the swatch and can't wait to try this on my eyes.

"Puzzy" Tendergloss

What a pretty peachy-pink with a hint of shimmer. It's a pretty color blue like the name implies ("gloss") it is sheer. This would be better suited as a lipstick topper than on it's own.

Overall, I'm liking this month more than I did the September box.

Side note: In the box came a card reminding us of the December Starbox. "$99 value for only $15" which has me wondering if we'll get a palette like last year. They are offering a "pre-order" for the Starbox Gift Subscriptions that will begin with the December Starbox.

As a reminder, Starlook products are made in China and not all products are vegan. So be aware of that and take a look at their ingredients list if you have any specific concerns.

  1. I love the Gem pencils. I go back and forth between wanting to resub to Starlooks, and not. I keep talking myself out of it, though, because I just have so much makeup, and I am getting more into the lifestyle type subs because I can't use up all my makeup!
