My Thoughts: My June Birchbox

Thursday, June 27, 2013

This was my final box with Birchbox as I cancelled my box in late May. I loved Birchbox and for a very long time it was my #1 beauty subscription box. I love the review system for points which you can then use those points to score free stuff but over the last six months I haven't been excited with or happy with Birchbox. Instead of moaning and groaning each month about how something I chose to cancel.

I received Box #1 which contains the following items:
  1. Davines 3-Step System
  2. Youngblood Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder
  3. Oscar de la Renta live in love Body Scrub
  4. Color Club® Wanderlust Collection
This box just didn't wow me enough to make me change my mind in cancelling. In fact I've have yet to try anything and the box is sitting on my shelf right now. I'll eventually use the shampoo and conditioner (probably today because I'm out of my normal shampoo and conditioner along with all the Miss Jessie's products I use). The nail polish will go in my nail hoard collection. The Live In Love body scrub is going to one of my daughters (didn't care for the perfume from Beauty Bar's Sample Society which I already gave my daughter). The Youngeblood sample I'll use with my other Youngblood samples.

It's hard for me to be excited about this box. I could end up really loving the Davines product but I won't know until I try it. So this month I earned 40 points from the box. I don't know what else to say since as I said before Birchbox hasn't been exciting for me and out of all the products sent this year very few of the items I'd repurchase. I miss the old Birchbox when there were only 10 variation not 40 and you could expect full size to deluxe size products to try rather than one-time only samples. Maybe down the road I'll go back to Birchbox but for now it's good-bye Birchbox!

  1. I was just looking at all my past birchboxes and realized I haven't LOVED any of them. I got the Davines stuff this month too and I used it, but it's just meh. The shampoo smells strange to me. The stickers peel off the bottle easily though so I'll save it for something else.

    1. You're right, it smells strange but I know like what. To me it smells like freshly cut clover and it's not a scent I care for. The shampoo was too runny and the conditioner too thick. The oil was okay but I felt like I wasted the packet. Overall the Davines was a dud for me.

But why don't you like the nail polish?? I think it looks like such a fun bright colour especially for your toes!

    1. It's not that I don't like it just that I have way too many nail polishes already including similar colors. LOL

  3. I just cancelled today, I have gotten only one sample of a product that I'd actually buy full size and it's not really that special. The food samples...ink pen, ridiculous.
